No, it is not correct to use expressions like "¨cada dos días" nor "un día si y otro no" If you want to say: Every other day, it will ALWAYS be "día de por medio" Other way, it would be the equivalent to say in English, I work one day yes and one day no, or I work every two days. It is incorrect.

If you want to say, every other week or every other year, it would be: cada dos semanas or cada dos años.

You may need more context, example,

Every other day - Cada dos días

I work every other day = Trabajo cada dos días.

I work every other day = Trabajo un día sí y otro no.

Somewhat less than always, if Google hits are any indication. "cada dos días" gets 105K hits, "día de por medio" 737K and "día por medio" (no "de") gets 14M.

You can google anything you want, but I can tell you one thing. I am a native Spanish speaker, and I hold a teaching degree in Colombia, one or probably the best Spanish spoken in the world. I am not almost sure, I am 100% sure! Día por medio is incorrect - farallon7, Nov 16, 2011

"Cada otra" as a base . But the context determines a more precise structure: Cada otra día... cada tres años.
