Constant Spammer

Question

We have an idiot who is spamming the following message.

Hi,Good Day; My name is Miss.Mary Dickson, I saw your profile to day at (spanishdict.com) and was moved and become interested in you, I will like you to send me an email to my address (marydickson100@)…

I have already deleted approximately 40 of these messages. Just keep flagging them. It's sad insn't it when you have some neanderthal trying to spoil other peoples enjoyment. I wonder if she would like it if all the members were to send an email which would undoubtedly start to clog up her email system.

Whatever you do, do not reply to her email.

Spammers use this technique to validate your email account, and the lists of validated emails they compile just has that much more monetary value to them. If you reply, you would be playing into one of their moneymaking strategies, and your email will foreverafter be spammed.

We, as in the forum I moderate on, had a lot of trouble with messages like this, mostly sent by Bots. We set up an Introductions Area to the forum. New members have to post there first and have that post approved before they can post anywhere else.

It has worked a treat.

Sometimes the reason for the spelling and grammar being off is that the bot is programmed to introduce variations in spelling and word order in order to stop scripts that will block anything that is repeated more than once; double posts etc.

I really doubt there's a human being on the other end of this.

This is probably more than just a spammer, but one of those criminal types similar to those operating in Sierra Leon, presenting sad tales to con people into sending them money.
