How do you say "as long as" in Spanish? It's not one of the phrases you find if you look up as.

"You can go out as long as you finish your homework first."

One option is "siempre y cuando."

So you can try,

Te permito salir siempre y cuando terminas su tarea.

Very close, Fred. However, "terminar" should be conjugated in the subjunctive because you are referring to an unfulfilled future condition. - Izanoni1, Oct 22, 2011

Fred suggested:

Te permito salir siempre y cuando terminas su tarea.

This sentence, because it refers to an unfulfilled condition, would actually require the subjunctive, so you might instead try:

Te permito salir siempre y cuando terminas su termines la tarea.

Other expressions that would be acceptable in place of "siempre y cuando" might be "siempre que," "a condicion de que," and "con tal de que" (each of these expressions would likewise require the following verb to be in the subjunctive).

What about "En la medida que" ?

Here is a sentence I came across in an article: Una buena alimentación nos permite pensar y desarrollar nuestro intelecto en la medida que ésta sea sana y nutritiva.

Would that translate as the following?: A good diet allows us to think and develop our intellect as long as it's healthy and nutritious.
