Unas frases con que necesito ayuda.

Unas frases con que necesito ayuda.

Hola a todos, ¿cómo están hoy?

Estaba leyendo una noticia hoy y encontré unas frases, con las que necesito ayuda.(is this correct)?

"vamos cortos de sueño" - Would this mean "we go short of sleep"?

The full sentence is

"Si dormimos habitualmente entre cinco y siete horas al día, vamos cortos de sueño"

Also:

"De hecho, tres horas antes de acostarnos no debemos hacer ninguna actividad que tenga que ver..."

My question here is... Why you use subjunctive. Is it because there is a subject change after deber (debemos). The two verbs are Deber and Tener.

Like in the example

On the one hand there are things that you can do and they suit some better than others.

would this be correct?

Thanks for all the help guys. much appreciatedsmile

I hope there is enough context here.

"Unas frases con *las* que necesito ayuda". :-) - Gekkosan, Oct 21, 2011
O mejor: "Necesito ayuda con unas frases". - LuisCache, Oct 24, 2011
- LuisCache, Oct 24, 2011

Hola, dewclaw:

1 . "vamos cotros de sueño" - Would this mean "we go short of sleep"? I would say yes.

2 . " Is it because there is a subject change after deber?". Definitively not.

According to wikipedia:

3 . "On the one hand there are things that you can do and they suit some better than others." Right.

Vamos cortos de sueño, we go short of sleep... Nice turn of speech. I think you have that. I like another sleep expression "conciliar el sueño", to go to sleep.

Regarding your second question, the subjunctive is used because the speaker is expressing a wish or imperative relative to another subject. If you subscribe to the WEIRDO rules, this would be the W.

Regarding the third, that seems right to me!

Jeremias, how do you conciliar el sueño? You have chance to get rich, it is a major problem. - annierats, Oct 21, 2011

Dewclaw, I'm a poor sleeper and I can't help much but

Si dormimos habitualmente entre cinco y sied al día, vamos cortos de sueño" if we usually sleep between 5-7 during the day, we go short of sleep ( during he night).

Que a unos les irá mejor que a otros. seems to me to mean that there are ''things one can do and for some, it will go better than for others''

I shall contendedly await better solutions. I can read them in the wolf-hour, as we say in Sweden.

I agree with your interpretation of "Que a unos les irá mejor que a otros". - 00e657d4, Oct 21, 2011
I'm sorry to hear you don't sleep well. Try meditating for 15 minutes in the day. Thanks for your help! - dewclaw, Oct 22, 2011
