Is sarten masculine or feminine?

Question

I find both "el and la sarten" Which is correct? Or do they mean different things?

I've seen both for frying pan, too. Both are correct. Personally, I've only used "la sartén"...that's what I learned from my Spanish textbook, and I'm in no position to judge my textbook See what some natives say...perhaps it's regional?

Well, they do say it is "used" in both ways...but I have never heard that in Spain and it is only LISTED as feminine.

Sartén can be either masculine or feminine. Sartenes the same, we will hear both in Mexico,But when you go to " sartenería" it must become feminine. " la sartenería"

I just found this too:

Very weird, however, lisha, this means that unless you are in Spain, where you should definitely use the feminine form, you should actually use the masculine in American countries.
