For intentar (try, attempt, have a go at, etc.), you can use most of the following, depending on context:
ensayar, intentar lograr, aspirar a, perseguir, afanarse por, atentar, desvelarse por, gestionar, luchar para conseguir, luchar por, probar suerte con, tantear...
Again, depending on context as to how these can be employed....
