Dolor = pain. Dolor is a sensory and emotional feeling Lastimar = to hurt, to wound. Lastimar is a verb.

They can be used interchangeable in many situations but not always.

Rosetta Stone is using lastimar. Me lastima la cabeza. Le lastimó el pierna, etc. That was new to me. Is it wrong?

in my experience doler is used more physically, and lastimar more emotionally. so I would agree with emily8 - unMica, Oct 10, 2011
The firs expression is wrong as you are using it, you are saying that your head is hurting you, but you can say someting like: "El sombrereo me lastima la cabeza" the hat is hurting my head. In the second oration, is "la pierna". - darrenup, Oct 10, 2011

Lastimar = To hurt oneself (ie Me lastimé la pierna mientras de correr = I hurt myself whilst running)

Dolor = pain (ie dolor de cabeza = headache, dolor de espalda = backache)
