"tengo" usually includes the understood subject pronoun "yo". Sometimes "yo" is added for emphasis.

A native speaker or more advanced member will give a better answer.

Is same, "Yo tengo una pelota" "Tengo una pelota"

In Spain we call this "omitted subject" for example: "Tiene hambre" = "El/Ella tiene hambre"
