English must be capitalized, in English. Please use proper spelling and capitalization according to forum rules, so students of English can benefit. Thanks. - pesta, Oct 4, 2011

You really cannot translate it. It is a crunchy root vegetable used in salads ( as far as I know) and is quite nice for that. Google it and you will see it clearly.

They are very tasty. - pesta, Oct 4, 2011
I have tried to prepare it at home, but can't come close to the way it tastes in Mexico. :( - Nicole-B, Oct 4, 2011

In English, it's jicama. (no accent on the i)

In Spanish, it's jícama (note, the accent on the í )

hello! I´m mexican and I can tell you that "jícama" is a root vegetble. Is very fresh and we eat it main. in december: we put inside the "piñata" some fruits such as" limas", "tejocotes", "naranjas" "cañas", "cacahuates" and "jícamas".In the rest of the year, we eat" jícamas" with chili, salt and lemon. Is very very delicious if you mix it with "betabel"
