Tenido means had as in "possessed or owned"; not the same as the auxiliary verb had [haber]. (había, hubo. hubiera)
It also is the used for the past tense form of idioms like tener hambre, tener sueño, tener frío, etc.
I had been cold...había tenido frío
I have been cold...he tenido frío.
