Can someone help me with this sentence? I wonder why Cuánto is used in a statement.
"Cuánto siento que no sean de verdad."

Hmm... I would go for:
I am sorry because they are not real
It's a shame that they are not real
Unfortunately they are not real

I am not a native speaker but without further context I would say it is used here as an exclamation.
I really feel that they may not be real.
