I am a nurse and want to explain to my patients that I am going to start an IV. I would also like to how to tell them that I am going to flush their IV line.

Here is one way to say that.

Voy a colocarle un catéter intravenoso. Va a sentir un pinchazo.

I'm going to place an IV. You're going to feel a pinch.

Here is a great site.

Welcome to the forum!

I am not a native speaker, but I'm going to give this a shot. In the clinic, we do not normally say "I am going", we say "I have to".

Tengo que colocar un intravenoso.

I have to start an IV.

Tengo que vaciar su intravenoso.

I have to flush your IV.

These are my best guesses. I'm sure a native speaker can give a better translation.

Suero is more like "iv fluids" in relation to dehydration. Intravenoso is the more correct translation.
