Él está aburrido. (He is feeling bored (situation or condition uses Estar)

Él es aburrido. (He is a boring person. Quality or characteristic uses Ser)

Él está cansado. (He is feeling tired (situation or condition uses Estar)

Él es cansado. (He has a tiring [could be boring, annoying, listless, lazy] personality uses Ser).

Welcome to the forum!

Alvina, there are probably more threads on the forum about the use of ser and estar than any other subject. If you'll do a search, you'll see the subject has been discussed extensively.

Also, there is a good video lesson on this site that helped me.
