The "ing" form as a present participle rather than a gerund in English?
Are you asking about Estar +gerundio in Spanish? Going by your profile I am assuming that you are asking about the progressive (continuous) tenses in Spanish. The progressive tense can also be used with other verbs of motion than Estar.
The "ing" form is also linked to the verb infinitive used as a noun in Spanish, or the gerundio typically serving as a adverb (and rarely as an adjective).
