In the title I would use special rather than especial, in this context. - MaryMcc, Sep 28, 2011
Mary especial can't be used in any context it doesn't exist! Especially exists though, that's why it's so confusing! - rabbitwho, Sep 28, 2011

Here's what Charles V said about it:

I speak Spanish to God, Italian to women, French to men, and German to my horse.

The thing that surprised me the most about my language journey is how much I learned about culture. I'm not talking about customs or history, I'm talking about a different way of thinking. For example, the subjunctive may be difficult, but it opens up a different way of thinking of things. In English we often confuse fact with opinion, and with things that may or may not be. This is just one small example of what I'm talking about.

Do we really do that? If yes - I doubt it has much to do with the subjunctive cos we have that in English too. - ian-hill, Sep 28, 2011
