This morning I heard someone say to a supermarket stocker in the aisle, "le gusta..., ____ una consulta....
Can someone fill in the blanks for me? I didn't have paper with me and unfortunately forgot a lot, but I could really use a phrase like this. The lady was asking for an item and where it was located.

Quiero hacerle una consulta = I'd like to consult you/ask your advice, so it's a polite preface to asking something, such as where to find an item in the store. Could your phrase be a variation of this?
