My friend from Honduras was texting me back when I told him I saw a nice van in New York for 4 thousand dollars and he texted me back saying Deveras! The closest word I can find is adeveras but there's no meaning here.

Welcome and break it up into "de veras"... that should work! :) - cristalino, Sep 24, 2011

I am thinking it's a colloquialism for "¿De verdad?" or "¿Realmente?" in response to what you told him earlier, so like our English "Really?" - showing some degree of surprise or interest.... raspberry

Well, yes cristalino is right, we use it to asseverate or to ask something like:

Deveras tengo un bentley del año.

I really have a new bentley.

or

Person 1: Tengo un bentley del año. I have a new bentley.

Person 2: ¿Deveras?. Really?

Of course the word is not in the dictionary ;S
