In Hawaii you can swim with the turtles, but it is not permitted to touch them. I hope that I will have the opportunity to swim with them there again next year.

Why are you not allowed to touch them? - territurtle, Sep 24, 2011
They are a protected species. IIt's not like the monk seal though- if they come on the beach they rope it off and post guards. - Stadt, Sep 24, 2011
"Espero *tener* la oportunidad de nadar.." No change in subject, so the infinitive is used (this is not a hard rule though, there are cases where there is no change in subject but using a conjugated verb is as acceptable as using an infinitive). - Deanski, Sep 25, 2011
Gracias, Dean. :-) - Stadt, Sep 25, 2011

Turtles are amazing reptiles, but they should not be treated like toys.

The first time I went to India I was told that the government had just set out turtles, especially near the burning ghats, to clean the river Ganges. Unfortunately, very soon all turtles mysteriously disappeared. Probably Indian people also consider turtle soup to be a delicacy. This year the government has released another 34.000 turtles to clean the river . . . . . .

We all know that turtles cannot fly, but they would be more beautiful if they did.

The turtle and the hare is a story full of wisdom. I don't want to pass through life so quickly that I will not realize what is going on around me.
