I've looked it up and some websites say "la compeñera de clase", el compeñero de clase chica", or "la nina compeñera:...or even "el compeñero de chica"! Which one is it?

It has to be la compañera de clase

...... because you are talking about a girl class mate. You do not need the word ''chica'' which means girl to make the meaning clear because the a at the end of the word compañera already makes the gender clear as does the presence of the definite article la preceding the verb.

If you were talking about a classmate who is a guy it would be:

el compañero de clase

The noun needs to be the right gender (sex) to represent the person to whom you are referring.

I hope this helps smile
