What Spanish?!
My friends who have lived in Spain have started to notice that some of the words [nouns] that I use are South American Spanish and not the words you would use if you were in Spain. [Europe] Does this mean that Spanishdict.com is not the site for me to learn the language? I am loving it. Thank you. Sean

No, it's a fine site. Latin American Spanish is as valid as Iberic Spanish. Besides there are quite a few contributors here who are from Spain, so you'll get both versions and what's better than that? It'd be the same as in American English vs British English.
So stay on, and if you want to know the Iberic vesion of a Latin American equivalent there'll be someone to help you out. Including myself ![]()
Yes, there are different varieties of Spanish just as there are varieties of English. British and American, for example, are different but not so different that we can't communicate happily with each other. I think the same situation exists with European and American Spanish too.
Having said that - when you ask a question you can specify where you want to use it for example with Mexican co-workers, a trip to Puerto Rico or to talk to your Auntie from Spain. People here are pretty knowledgeable so if you give us lots of info, context etc - you'll get the answer you're looking for. You found the right place here.
Cheers
