Uno vuelva a preguntar" Te da igual?

Uno vuelva a preguntar" Te da igual?

Recently someone asked about this phrase, but didn't get a useful reply.

I am familiar with the expression

Me da igual, which means, more or less,

It's all the same to me.

But what would "Te da igual" mean by itself, and how would you use it? Or is it not really used by itself? For instance, you could say,

Si te da igual, ya me voy.

But by itself, "Te da igual" doesn't seems to have a useful context.

Gracias de antemano.

¿Te da igual¿ Are you even interested in what I am saying?

this depends on context, it can mean anything. wink

It seems to be used in speech - te da igual

"¿te da igual quedarte/venirte conmigo después de las clases?".

Thanks Kiwi and Heidita, that's what I was thinking.

Me da igual is an expression that you can use by itself.

¿Te molesta si fumo?

No, me da igual.

But Te da igual needs to be part of a phrase:

Si te da igual, quiero fumar.

But Te da igual needs to be part of a phrase:

Heidi used ¿Te da igual? without a phrase attached so I think it can stand alone depending on context.

For example, you are chatting away and the other person doesn't even respond. Then you say ¿Te da igual?, which means "Are you even listening to me?"

Anyone else have examples for us???
