Hi. If you want to say "female dog" it's "perra" but the word B***** is "perra" also. How do you clarify? I mean, I don't want to say, "Your (female) dog is so pretty!" and it come out "Your b***** is so pretty!" Heeeeeeeeeeeelp before I cussout someone! raspberry

Good question... I would say perrita.. but maybe that has another meaning too! Or you could say cachora.. but a google image search tells me that can refer to women too! - rabbitwho, Sep 19, 2011

There's nothing to clarify. If you're addressing the dog as 'perra', no one in their right mind is going to think ill of it. However, if you are addressing a woman as 'perra', she's going to slap the crap out of you and her dog is going to bite you.

Normally people will be able to tell by context. If you're really worried just use perro instead of perra and pretend you don't know the gender of the dog.

In just a few Spanish speaking countries perra is a cuss word, most of us use the word pu.., that is a lot more direct, you can use perra every time you need to

It's only when you meet a guy with a girlfriend and a female dog, that you may really run into problems...
