"Was destroyed"
¿Cómo se dice "was destroyed" en el español? My subject is third person singular, so would it be...
...fue destruido?
Gracias!

fue destruido is great, Sonrisa.
You could also say se destruyó, no?
As you probably know, in spoken Spanish the passive voice is often replaced by the "empty third person". People tend to avoid the passive which, especially in the case of ser + pp, is most often found in journalistic writing.
Fue destruido el edificio.
El edificio se destruyó.
Destruyeron el edificio.
Your question got me to thinking about the use of
ser + a past participle
vs
estar + a past participle
and prompted me to look at one of my simple Spanish grammar books to refresh my memory about the differences in their use.
Thank you, Sonrisa, for providing that reminder!
