I feel sad about it

I feel sad about it

I want to say "Me siento triste de eso / ello" but that doesn't sound right so you think, maybe they don't say that in Spanish.

But then you think about the way things are going and you think, I feel sad about it.

How would you express that in Spanish?

Gracias

That indicates to me that you feel bad because of something you did, not because of just the ways things are. - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011
I think that given the context, this answer is perfectly good. - Gekkosan, Sep 18, 2011
It doesn't work for as I stated. I think "Me da pena pensarlo" is what I am after. - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011

I agree, this is exactly how I would say it, galsally.:) - Deanski, Sep 18, 2011
Of course, one can change esto to eso when necessary - Deanski, Sep 18, 2011
Glad to hear. I use 10.10 myself, don't know about the later versions. - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011

What about me hace sentir triste? That clearly shows it's an external force.

That probably makes the most sense I guess for it. - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011
Although I think "me hace triste" sounds better, and some thought must be given to "se me hace triste". - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011

I think most answers are ok. As Web points out, there are lots of possible nuances:

Eso me tiene triste. Eso me hace sentir triste. Estoy triste por la forma en que van las cosas. Todo esto me tiene mal / triste / deprimido. Estoy mal por todo esto. Estoy triste por esto (que está pasando).

Lots of options.

So you don't like "me hace triste" without "sentir" to me it sounds more natuiral. - jeezzle, Sep 18, 2011

The nuances of prepositions can be quite maddening...in most every language not your own.

What about "Me da pena hasta pensarlo" VS "Me da pena aún pensarlo"

Do they both work there for even? Hasta and aún or just hasta? Why? Gracias
