Hello my friends, I am just wondering if I can use the word novios to refer to two people being girlfriend and boyfriend.

yes, novios is the two people, girlfriend is novia and boyfriend is novio ^^.

Incidentally, the plural sense of the term also means:
los novios -> the bride and groom
