As you are probably all very well aware by now I love to come up with new threads that will inspire us all to stretch our Spanish (or as the case may be - English).
We all of us have strong memories of our childhood. Some good - some not so good - and some downright awful. In this thread I will be asking everyone to contribute their recollections of childhood.
Perhaps as a child you were made to eat something you detested day-in and day-out? Perhaps you had a local creek where you collected tadpoles? Perhaps you were bullied mercilessly by an older sibling? Yes the possibilities are endless.
And so how will this thread work?
1) You must post a recollection of your childhood both in Spanish and English..
2) Your memory of childhood must be at least one complete sentence with a maximum of two sentences!
3) Although you can contribute multiple times (which I'll be doing) you must stick to one recollection only - per post. If and when you come up with a new recollection you can return to the thread and re-post.
4) You can complement your post with pictures but this is not essential - a simple sentence will be perfectly fine.
5) As always - no translators!
So, you could start your post with..."Cuando era niño...." - "Cuando éramos niños.."....

Cuando era niña al atardecer nos habiamos pasado con mi padre y estuvimos sentado a orillas de Danubio en las escaleras.
When I was little at the sunset we had been strolling with my father, and were sitting on the bank of Danube on the stairs.

It was actually a horse and "Trap" but I do not know how to say that.

When I was a girl I often used to visit my grandparents. In Autumn we used to walk the paths and lanes to pick blackberries so that my grandmother could use them to make apple and blackberry crumble.

My brother and I liked to catch a June bug and tie a piece of string around its legs. Then we would spin it around in a circle until the legs fell off.
Cuando éramos niños unos de nuestros pasatiempos favoritos eran encontrar y comer los "Plum Puddings". En el verano esta hierba pequeña crecía por todos lados - en los parques, en los campos de juegos y a lo largo de los senderos. Probablamente Plum Puddings eran malas hierbas pero no nos importaba. Si se tenía suerte de encontrar un gordo y jugoso Plum Pudding se sintiera muy especial de verdad.
When we were children one of our favourite pastimes was to find and eat Plum Puddings. In summer this little plant grew everywhere - in parks, in playgrounds and on footpaths. Probably Plum Puddings were weeds but we didn't care. If you were lucky enough to find a fat, juicy Plum Pudding you felt like you were the ants-pants.

Cuando era niño, pasaba mucho tiempo en la granja de mis abuelos. El sabado pasado fuimos allípor una visita. Que pena, he estado nadie viviendo alli para nadie ha vivido allí en más que viente años. Ahora la granja es mio y también todos los recuerdos.
When I was young I spent a lot of time on my grandparents farm. Last Saturday we went there for a visit. Such a pity, no one has lived there for more than twenty years. Now the farm is mine with all those memories.

When I was a child things were very different. Akid, like myself could go out to play from sunrise to sunset. People almost never locked the door, and crime was something which happened in some other town. Don't forget the good humor man!
