Hey,

A day before i discovered this amazing website, I got a book to learn Spanish, It came with a CD and is very helpful.

But here's my Question. Is it a good idea to study from 2 Different Sources ?

Spanish Dict AND The Book ? Or should i Stick to one of the two?

Any suggestions?

Honestly I haven't even touched the book yet. Spanish Dict is way more fun... lol !

My advice would be, learn from as many different sources as you can. The lessons here are fantastic but learning from different angles, view points etc will further consolidate your understanding.

I learn from a variety of sources..... books, cd's, other websites, video's etc. The excellent thing about Spanishdict though is the number really helpful and very knowledgeable native Spanish speakers we have. They are only too willing to help if you have any questions or don't quite understand something. I find this really useful when I get confused or, what I perceive as slightly contradictory information in other sites (for example, say object pronouns). In these circumstances a quick question on here soon resolves my issue and I generally find that I have misunderstood the material. This, in turn, really consolidates my learning.

Good luck!

Of course not. Heaven forbid that you be exposed to different teaching methods or even different viewpoints on how the language works.

No one would want to learn how the different cultures or regions effect the use of the language. Stick to one source. Stick with a simple view of something complex.

I'm with Rabbit and most of the others here. Two is not enough! While this is indeed the best place to learn, you can't always be online. (Well that's not really true anymore is it? smile ) Anyway, I have different books, discs, audio books and programs on mp3 for those times I am working or commuting etc.

Add me to the multiple source list. Each source reaches my brain in different ways.

Two is not enough. :D

I can't count the number of sources I use. I hate revision, so instead of revising something I don't understand I read about the same thing in a different book or on a different web page. I can't stand reading the same page over and over or watching the same video over and over.

I find if you just use one source you don't get enough practice of things before they move onto the next topic and you get bored much faster and lose motivation so you study less and even though logically it seems like using just one source you'd move faster through the chapters actually you end up moving slower, could be just me though.

I agree with qreed, using more than one source can be extremely confusing, especially in the beginning.

I'm not saying that there isn't value in using different sources, to improve your reading for example, but when it comes to grammar I would definitely say stick to one.

I thought Qfreed was being sarcastic. - rabbitwho, Sep 16, 2011
Qfreed was definitely joking. Stick to one source for awile if that helps you initially, but you'll want to diversify quickly for review and practice! - pesta, Sep 16, 2011
jejeje, It looks as if Quentin now has to worry about people misunderstanding his wit. :) - Yeser007, Sep 16, 2011

Hi there The Offspring!

I say the more (re)sources the better! The more ways you can immerse yourself the better! Music! Newspapers! Books! Telly! Movies!

Give the book/CD a fair hearing - but I think the resources here, especially Paralee's lessons, are second-to-none. Welcome aboard the Spanishdict express! wink

I think its a good idea, but on how the way you use it and compare your mediums. This website is a very good way to study spanish but for example your away from the computer and your on a trip you can read your book or use the audio and after that make sure you compare what you read in that book to the lessons here in this website, and ask questions.

Just a couple of (English) corrections. "if you're away from the computer or if you're on a trip..." - nonombre, Sep 16, 2011
