Formal Letter to a Spanish Professor
I am writing a letter to a Spanish professor that I don't know and I was wondering if someone could check and make sure that it makes sense and is gramatically correct because I don't want to look like an idiot. Thanks, I really appreciate it!

Mi nombre es Zach Banks. Soy estudiante de primer año (freshman) que le encanta el español y estoy tratando de hacerse fluido con español (to become fluent in spanish). Me estoy especializando en ciencias de la computación (I am majoring in Computer Science) pero aún quisiera sacar clases de español. Yo estaba recomendado para tomar el CLEP en español y pienso tomarlo pronto. No obstante (regardless), si tiene usted el tiempo, me gustaría quedar con usted para hablar de unas clases que pueda tomar para ayudarme a aprender al (I am not sure if that should be al or el) español más.

Not a native so take these recommendations with a grain of salt:
Soy estudiante de primer año (freshman) que le encanta el español....
I am a freshman who Spanish is pleasing to...incorrect (has to be to whom here..(a que or a quien)
I am a freshman who likes Spanish (sounds OK here)
I don't know which a the two is correct, but when I read the sentence I couldn't help thinking...isn't that a quien?.....

Doesn't Spanish use informática with cormputer science? (information science)

aprender is not one of the verbs that commonly take an "a"

Often before names of languages: The article generally is used before names of languages. But it can be omitted immediately following a verb that is used often with languages, such as hablar (to speak), or after the preposition en. El inglés es la lengua de Belice. (English is the language of Belize.) El alemán es difícil. (German is difficult.) Hablo bien el español. (I speak Spanish well.) But, hablo español. (I speak Spanish.) No puede escribir en francés. (He can't write in French.)
After hablar, en and de was the rule when I was in school, but the list of verbs has increased.
With names of languages: Names of languages require the article except when they immediately follow en or a verb that is often used of languages (particularly saber, aprender, and hablar, and sometimes entender, escribir or estudiar). The article also is required after an adverb or a preposition other than en. Hablo español. (I speak Spanish.) Hablo bien el español. (I speak Spanish well.) Prefiero el inglés. (I prefer English.) Aprendemos inglés. (We are learning English.)
