Day of the week and month

I have a couple of theses on my homework so I was wondering how you would write them correctly. One is : Tuesday is May 23rd. I think that would be Martes es mayo veinte y tres is that right if not please give me the right one. The second one I'm confused on is: It is Thursday, October 16th. Would that me Hoy es jueves, el diez y seisde?

The following would be an acceptable format for dates:
- El martes es el 23 de mayo.
- Hoy es jueves el 16 de octubre.
veintitres=veinte y tres dieciseis=diez y seis
Either form of writing out numbers is acceptable.
