I get vamos as a conjugation of ir but I've noticed a lot of people using vamanos. I cant find where vamanos would come from. Anyone know?

vamos-let's go. Derived from IR

vámonos-let's leave/go. Derived from IRSE

They're interchangeable.

They are not interchangeable! - lazarus1907, Sep 13, 2011
As a suggestion for 'let's go' either could be used but vámonos could never replace vamos in sentences where you state something such as 'vamos a dormir' :) - Kiwi-Girl, Sep 13, 2011
@KIWI_GIRL-Tienes razón. Debo clarificar mi respuesta. Sólo se puede intercambiar los tiempos en ciertas circunstancias como las que mencionaste. - Tomb3, Sep 13, 2011

vámonos is the pronominal form for 1st person plural command (let's...) for the verb IR.

vamos+nos (the s in vamos gets dropped)

The Let's go is also expressed with the present subjunctive and present indicative vayamos and vamos. (Ir; not Irse)

We have lots of previous threads and there are lots of online grammar articles on the 1st person, plural commands. (also called nosotros commands).
