Does this mean "a pesar de" or something else.

Eres una chica muy buena sobre todo para tener tatuajes.

I feel like it's either "You're a good girl even though / despite having tattoos."

or it might say "You're a good girl besides having tattoos" like, not to mention all those cool tattoos.

The sentence can be understood in two ways, and that suggestion of yours above is one of them. The other one would be "in order to... have tattoos". Cogumela shows how the punctuation helps to resolve the ambiguity.

The sentence is not really grammatically correct. "eres una chica muy buena sobre todo POR tener tatuajes" is.

The sentence is perfect (except for the punctuation), because it is not explanatory, but either expressing finality, or adversative:

para.

Hey Cogu! Here I think 'suited to' is preferable to 'apt for'. It's an odd sentence, because I can't imagine what sort of person is more suited to tattoos than any other. Maybe certain skin colours? - galsally, Sep 13, 2011

hI geo, not really por and para is different here.

Eres buena para tener tatuajes: you, your skin, is good for tatoos.

Eres buena por...you are good because you have tatoos.

That would be very weird, why is anybody good because they have tatoos?

As my answer above seems to be a bit controversial I'll explain it a but further.

OK, the sentence is technically correct from a strictly grammatical point of view.

But, from a communicational point is not, it is confusing and could be interpreted wrong, languages above all are about expresing an idea or whatever effectively.

A sentence like: "Este coche es muy bueno, sobre todo para freir huevos" is also grammatically correct but it doesn't make any sense. One can argue, "well, but the car comes with a cooker", then the previous sentence should be rephrased.

So, I insist... Eres una chica muy buena sobre todo para tener tatuajes. Doesn't make sense, therefore is incorrect.

I'll rephrase it:

Eres una chica con una piel muy buena, sobre todo para tener tatuajes. This makes sense.

The sentence is not really grammatically correct. "eres una chica muy buena sobre todo POR tener tatuajes" is.

That'd be "especially because of having tattoos" or "for having tattoos". Here "por" means "because" e.g. "no pude ir al parque por la lluvia"..."I couldn't go to the park because of the rain"
