Is it just me, or is learning Spanish a pain ?
Is Spanish really so difficult?
(Please post a question, thanks)

You are not on your own there mate , but it is not so much a pain as a long
drawn out mental anguish at not being able to speak a single word after
struggling for years at a language that snotty little kids are screeching out at each
other with relative ease after a few months of practice . It is a frustrating annoying
all consuming bondage , but oh so enjoyable at times when one gets a sentence
correct or a word in the right place , and a vote for being clever erudite and funny
for conjugating a verb in the preterite , well not me actualy but I could if I tried real hard. ![]()
It's you
Learning Spanish is ......

I wouldn't be able to learn a language which I don't like. It would be really awful for me.
Nobody can make you love the thing, you don't like. But you can choose another language, so that each lesson become for you a pleasure and a great time like for most of us here are spanish lessons. I don't treat it as a lesson. This is a fairy tale for me.
Good luck!

It's just you. ![]()
For me, it is the challenge of a lifetime. La lucha. The fight. The struggle.

Are the rest of us are struggling? Yes. Learning a new language is unspeakably challenging. But we are over the initial shock of how challenging it really is and into the hard work of learning the language, word by word, phrase by phrase, grammar rule by grammar rule.
For me, I just refuse to quit. I am not a person (you will meet them) who finds learning a language easy.
Spanishdict.com is a boxing club for people who will not give up the fight, but also who don't like the feeling of having the stuffing beat out of them in the ring.
We do drills, we learn lessons and then we go into the ring and go at it. Sometimes we get punched in the face. Sometimes we get knocked out. Sometimes we get up and try again and go the distance.
Sometimes, we even understand and express ourselves.
Stay or leave. A mi me da iqual. (To me, it makes no difference.) But, if you stay here, visiting this website every day, you will learn, find encouragement and make friends.
And, one day, you will find that you know just the right words to express the thing you want to say. Then, after all of that frustration, you will feel euphoric in a way that few really understand. Bring it here. We understand.
It isn't just you.
Ajajajja!
Some parts of it are a pain in the butt, yes, but for the most part I really enjoy it. I think within six months I'll be at that point where I don't have to really study grammar all the time any more and I can just read books and do things I'd be doing anyway except do them in Spanish.
Is it hard you mean?
Yes!
Does that make it a pain in the butt?
I don't think so but i started to learn Spanish because it seemed fun and i wanted to.
Those are both important points.
And as stated in reply's from others you are not alone here.
Especially when you can show you made an effort to find things out
before you came here in the forum.
People here tend to be really committed to help you along.

Some parts are a pain in the butt, but most of it's fun and challenging.
Listen to some Spanish music, watch some videos, get some movies with a Spanish language soundtrack, and make some friends who are either studying the language or already speak it.
Try not to stress too much and it will come to you eventually...just keep practicing.
¡Buena suerte!

I've always loved learning, my whole life.
But when I first learned some Spanish in high school, I gave up.
Learning Spanish is one of the harder challenges I've faced. With a genuine motivation, this time, I won't give up.
I'm determined, since I enjoy beating my head against a solid wall anyway, that I put that effort to good use. After almost two years of this, I made some real progress, and I don't have a headache.
I'm not ready to declare victory and move on to learning several other languages. I used to think Italian and German were worth my effort, and I did learn a fair amount of each, but I find Spanish to be wonderfully elegant, beautiful, surprisingly logical (for a language), and personally useful.
What else can I add? ![]()
I laughed so hard at this post, it's really funny. ![]()
Of course it is!!! Haha. ![]()
BUT, good luck! I hope you go well! ![]()
Learning is probably never the fun part, however once you have achieved a certain level of proficiency, it is very exciting and gratifying to be able to put into practice the knowledge that you have spent weeks, months and even years seeking to acquire. Stick with it! Depending on what you plan to do with your new skills, it certainly will pay off. ![]()
It's not a pain. It's not really that difficult, it's just time consuming.
It's a joy to the ear ![]()
I do feel your frustration. Spanish is not a pain though but it can be difficult at times and demands a lot of time and dedication. You have to presevere at it and I am speaking as much to myself here as to you!
Sometimes, when learning any new skill you can feel like you are moving two steps forward and three backwards.
You could look at it in this way: Learning Spanish is not so difficult that you should think ''I can't do it!'' nor so easy that you should mistakenly think: ''This is a walk in the park!''(ie a very very easy skill to learn!)
Learning together in a vibrant and loving community of like-minded people who are there for you when you need encouragement can be a tremendous help as I am learning.
To conclude, Mariana gave you some great words of wisdom here:
''Doing anything worthwhile takes time, effort, and patience....especially patience with yourself.''- Mariana
I hope this helps

Spanish is really easy!
If you wanted it to be a pain, it will!
anything can be a pain if you pushed yourself too much while doing it.
