I recently learned that Spanish nouns that end in "ma" are often Greek in origin and often masculine.

No sooner had a learned this information that I was using it.

Now, let's have fun with it.

Format:

Write the previously identified Spanish noun ending in "ma" with its article.
Give the English translation.
Use it in a sentence in Spanish Give the English translation of the sentence.
Pose another Spanish noun, ending with "ma" without its article.

Post a picture illustrating the first noun.

Example:

Spanish noun: El drama

English translation: The drama

Used in a Spanish sentence: El drama es fundamental a las relaciones humanas.

English translation: Drama is fundamental to human relations.

Challenge noun: sistema

p.s. If you cannot think of any more challenge nouns, look here.

cubRecama ... but it is masculine because it's a compound word, not because of Greek origin. "Cama" is a feminine word, after all. - gintar77, Sep 11, 2011
Interestingly enough "sobrecama" is a feminine word. - gintar77, Sep 11, 2011
Sorry, but the word was not "el problema," but "trauma." If you go in order, you'll see. - JoyceM, Sep 12, 2011
