Could anyone provide a book review?

Is anyone familiar with this book, yet? I'd like to own a copy, but I'm worried about this part of the book description: (I don't want to buy it, if it is over my head)

Ahora sale a la luz la Nueva gramática básica de la lengua española. Esta versión se dirige expresamente al amplio espectro de hispanohablantes que, habiendo recibido una primera instrucción en sus estudios de primaria y de secundaria, deseen acercarse a comprender mejor el funcionamiento de su lengua.

Since I haven't received a native's education in the Spanish language I don't know if I will have the background to understand any of it. Anyone read any of it? I want to know how basic Básica is.

Se trata de una versión más abreviada que, como el mismo reconoce, "se dirige expresamente al amplio conjunto de hispanohablantes que, habiendo recibido una primera instrucción en sus estudios de primaria y de secundaria, deseen acercarse a comprender mejor el funcionamiento de su lengua."

Seems as though it's abridged rather than simplified. If you google it's name the first link is to the PDF of the full version. I think if I sat down with a dictionary and kept asking you guys questions and really really worked at it I could make my way through the full book, but I think I'd learn more using resources designed for learners. But that's easy for me because I'm still at that level where there are plenty of resources, I know the higher you go the less there are!

It only costs 14 euros here and I'm still not going to buy it! Have a look at "aprende 4" by pilar diáz, dunno if it's available internationally but it's a good series! I'm working my way through no. 3 now - rabbitwho, Sep 9, 2011
