A few Peru Pictures

I am just learning to put my pictures on this site. I hope this works. On August 17, I and 5 new cytotechnology graduates left by bus to New York City to take the overnight flight to Lima, Peru. We arrived to rush hour traffic in Lima and a very scary rush hour drive to the hotel which was not ready for us. We did take the Lima City tour that day and this was at the park that was designed by the students of the art college.

Thank you for the pictures. Please tell more if you can as I would be interested to know more about Peru, thinking of moving there possibly next year.

I also took some time to learn to put pictures here. One of the users kindly taught me to do it. I am happy for you. I hope you really enjoyed this experience. Thank you for sharing your pictures smile

Good to have you back Sandy. The Pacific Ocean in the background makes me remember my own experiences a few years ago when I visited Lima. It was the first time I had seen the Pacific. I was truly absorbed by it all.

Hope you had a really great trip. grin

The reason that you have all of the extra text around you pictures is that you are using a image statement to post your pictures. You should not use the image icon along with that kind of image statement. Here is what the image statement should look like (just cut and pasted into reply. Did not use the image icon).

< img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6073/6128189259_d98a936f48.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="100_0213" > (so you could see the code. This is not needed. Edit my reply if you wish to see the coding.)

I am not sure I understand this Q, but I will try--Thanks - sanlee, Sep 9, 2011
You don't even need the parts on width="500" height="375". SD automatically downsizes its image presentation size. - pesta, Sep 9, 2011
Thanks guys! - sanlee, Sep 11, 2011

That is a great pic Sandy! You have to share more about the culture, the people and your experiences using Spanish in Peru.

I've bored people enough about the Dominican Republic. We need a new country to focus on. wink

I'm glad you had a good trip and returned safely. smile

Sounds frustrating. Hope you had some good times too. Interesting statue! - teasip, Sep 9, 2011
Wow! Very strange, I got a new phone here in Spain and it took about 10 minutes, the procedure was exactly the same as in Ireland though so I could guess everything that was being asked and splutter out my answers. The lady was very sympathetic. - rabbitwho, Sep 10, 2011
Generally what you have to do is get a prepaid phone somewhere, I heard that is difficult in the US so maybe go on holidays to Ireland or Spain! Then get it unblocked (you usually have to phone the manufactuerer or the phone company) - rabbitwho, Sep 10, 2011
Once unblocked you can use that phone in any country, and simcards are usually free (pay 10 euro, get 10 euro credit). You could probably do it with the phone you have now but it sounds complicated in Peru! - rabbitwho, Sep 10, 2011
I don't know why they couldn't unblock it, but I did get the cell phone. Thanks for the tips, Rabbit! - sanlee, Sep 11, 2011
I still have the Peru cell phone. Maybe I will use it if I go again... - sanlee, Mar 4, 2012
I forgot to tell you that the first thing I did that day when I got to the hotel was to go to get a cell phone. The Claro phone store did not open until 10 AM and at 9:30 there was quite a long line in front. The Peruvian people love their cell phones. T - sanlee, Mar 4, 2012
They seem to go for the recharge method of adding minutes. There was a bank nearby so I exchanged some money. When I returned to the phone store, I had 10 more minutes to wait. When I got inside the store, it seemed no one could understand my Spanish. Ev - sanlee, Mar 4, 2012
Even my Spanish dictionary could not help. Eventually, it was decided that my US phone would not be adequate, so I bought a cheap phone and 100 minutes. This transaction was very complicated and took 2 hours and much explaining and I don't know why. - sanlee, Mar 4, 2012

Sandy,

Thanks for sharing a little piece of Lima. This makes me want to sit on the benches and watch the cellphone line. ;o)

If you have the link for how to post our own fotos, will you add the link to your original post above.
