I saw this movie in Mexico just after it came out this spring, and I just watched it again on the youtube version.
It won first prize for best documentary film at the London East End Film Festival, International Film Festival of Morelia, and the International Film Festival of Buenos Aires.
Periodically on the forum, people ask what is going on politically in Mexico. It's such a long story, that the more I have learned the less I want to talk about it, because it is complicated and nuanced. Let's just say that Cortez got things off on the wrong foot and the country to be never really recovered.
Come se dice en la peli, "En México, ser inocente no basta para ser libre."
This is a really interesting film, well done, and very informative. You can find the youtube version here:
The video quality is low (youtube) so you can't read the subtitles well, but the audio is pretty clear and the language relatively simple. It's a good movie to practice your listening with, for an intermediate student like me. Also, there are many sites where you can watch or download a better quality version. But, keep your ports clean!
Si la veas, ¡disfrútala!
