Hi and welcome to the forum.

¡Vámonos! = Let's go!

I was once told that vámonos was a contraction of the first person plural imperative of irnos, to go out. If you think about it, that would be

¡Vámanosnos!

Which would be quite a mouthful.

Don't know if that's true or not. but it makes sense.

¡Vámonos!

Also, vámonos in practice can mean, in addition to let us go, just let's. "¿Quieres que visitemos tu madre?""

Si, vámonos."

Vámonos is 1st person plural in present tense of irse meaning lets go (lets leave, right now)

Vamos is first person plural of ir meaning lets go.

When I asked a friend from Mexico the difference between vamos and vámonos he said vámonos means right now (like, lets go right now).

                    ¡Saludos!

vamos+nos=vámonos (you drop the "s") vámanos is a misspelling. If anything the difference would be between ir and irse. Let's go and let's leave. (but I think they are fairly synonymous in this context). - 0074b507, Sep 4, 2011
Ah, okay, I will fix that spelling, thank you. Yes they are synonymous in this context. - EL_MAG0, Sep 4, 2011
