Favorecer

to suit, to flatter; to help, to assist

DO NOT use the translator!! ¡No usar el traductor!

**Work must be done by yourself. This thread is about YOUR ability not the ability of the translator. wink**

Post your sentences in Spanish and English, then vote for the ones you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes and language correctness.

These threads are kindly moderated by Heidita. Please correct your posts according to Heidita’s indications and suggestions smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs with more than 4 lines
• Posts which cannot be understood after they are read three or four times
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
• Remember to use the Word of the Day in a typical Spanish sentence. This is great practice for you and for everyone that reads the thread to see how the Word of the Day could be used in a sentence.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish. (You'll be sent to the dunce corner!)
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

Es mejor pensar que te favorece la suerte. Si lo haces, siempre tendrás buena suerte, te lo juro.

It is important to believe that luck is always on your side. If you do, you will always have good luck, I promise.

Irritation does not suit us. In such situations we look stupid and funny.

La irritación no nos favorece. En esas situaciones parecemos tontos y bobos.

Mi ex-novia preguntó que si podríamos casarnos, dije que por supuesto. En el día de la boda, la suerte me favoreció y sufrí un accidente de coche. ¡Me encantan los accidentes!

My ex-girlfriend asked if we could get married, I said of course. On the wedding day, luck was on my side and I had a car accident. I love accidents!

To me, the saying 'fortune favours the bold' shows that there's no such thing as luck.

Para mi, el dicho 'la fortuna favorece a los audaces' demuestra que no existe la suerte.

mostra to demuestra - gracias Heidi smile
