Which Came First, The Chicken Or The Egg?

I find that Spanish and some other languages all revolve round English, as if to say, the words are in English. Was English the first language created, or is it influenced by the other well-known languages like French.........

The egg came first, and it was laid by a reptile. - jlupine, Aug 31, 2011

Yes, English is the first language, and for awhile, the only language. It was handed down to us by Moses, on 2,000,000 clay tablets that he brought down from the mountain.

English, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese all were heavily influenced by Latin and Greek. That's probably what you're seeing.

It's definitely not a case of English being the first language. Not even close!

Here is a "language tree" chart that shows how languages evolved.

(Note- this chart doesn't show where Latin and Greek affected English, but they most certainly did, as any student of Latin and Greek will tell you. I'm not sure where that influence would fit in.)
