los dos mean both wink

(in other words both "los dos" and "ambos" can be both.

Depends on context:...los dos can be translated literally...the two of them or both of them.

Los dos hemanitos (by the Brothers Grim)

Here it would probably be the two siblings as the main characters are brother and sister.
