What's going on in Mexico? Could somebody inform us?

Mexico is experiencing a war that is multi-faceted. There are drug cartels fighting for the market, which apparently is the case in this specific casino attack. There are also federal, state and municipal authorities fighting the cartels.
The situation is complex, as these things usually are, and is compounded by the well publicized corruption in the government and military.

Sadly it's in the danger zone for the time being. The explosion of violence in the north of Mexico which has accelerated in the last five years continues to worsen. I would love it if anyone had links to any positive stories on the subject. This has really got me down.
I really don't know. Estoy consternado. No sé que pasa.
