DO NOT use the translator!! ¡No usar el traductor!

**Work must be done by yourself. This thread is about YOUR ability not the ability of the translator. wink**

Post your sentences in Spanish and English, then vote for the ones you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes and language correctness.

These threads are kindly moderated by **Gintar77**. Please correct your posts according to Gintar’s indications and suggestions smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs with more than 4 lines
• Posts which cannot be understood it is read three or four times
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
• Remember to use the Word of the Day in a typical Spanish sentence. This is great practice for you and for everyone that reads the thread to see how the Word of the Day could be used in a sentence.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish. (You'll be sent to the dunce corner!)
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

Por la mañana tengo la inclinación de volver a la cama antes de irme a trabajo. Pese a todo, me levanto todas las mañanas para ir a trabajo. Hmmm.

Each morning, I have the inclination to go back to bed before leaving for work. Nevertheless, each morning I get up to go to work. Hmmm.

There is not much space here, but "every morning" is not always "cada mañana" in Spanish, and it can sound a bit strange sometimes, because we make a differentiation that English ignores, probably for pragmatical reasons. - lazarus1907, Aug 24, 2011
Sorry for making so many changes, but I suggest "Por la mañana me entran ganas de volver a la.... Pese a todo, me levanto todas las mañanas para..." - lazarus1907, Aug 24, 2011
Sticking to your original one, you must add "de" between "inclinación" and "volver" (although it sounds weird), and you have to say "al trabajo". - lazarus1907, Aug 24, 2011
Thank you very much Lazarus - I really do appreciate your council and help...I have made mtost of your changes, but I kept inclination, even though it sounds weird (it is the Palabra del Día), but I added the "de"... - 001a2987, Aug 24, 2011
but I do appreciate the advice - I do take each correction and piece of advice so I can study and try to improve. - 001a2987, Aug 24, 2011

I must drive up a steep inclination to reach my garage. I hope it doesn't get icy in winter.

Tengo que subir una inclinación empinada para llegar a mi garaje. Espero que no se hace hielo hiele en el invierno.

"Hace" is infinitive, which means that you are declaring your beliefs. If it could happen but you don't want to declare it, use subjunctive: "hiele". - lazarus1907, Aug 24, 2011
¡Gracias, Lazarus! Is hiele still pronomial here? - pesta, Aug 24, 2011
Excellent! - gintar77, Aug 24, 2011
Sí, Pesta, ya me parece bastante difícil llegar ahí sin hielo . . . . . :) - Ingeteacher, Aug 25, 2011

Michael Jackson podía hacer una inclinación a 45 grados hacia delante. Dicen que fue era un truco, pero prefiero creer que fue era magia,

Michael Jackson could lean forward at 45 degrees. They say it was a trick, but I prefer to think it was magic.

De gatito nuestro gato ya tiene la inclinación (o ya tiende) a ser mandón, mientras que nuestro perro es todo lo contrario. Pienso que tenemos que enseñar a nuestro perro a ser más firme. Después de todo es nuestro perro guardián . . . . . .

Already as a kitten our cat had this tendency to be bossy, while our dog is exactly the opposite. I think we must train our dog to be more assertive. After all, he is our watch dog . . . . . . .

Porque A causa de que tengo una inclinación natural mucho más por las ciencias que por los idiomas, no empecé a aprender español hasta el año pasado (cuando tenía cuarenta y siete años), pero ahora que he empezado, ya no tengo la misma inclinación a hacer mis quehaceres domésticos.

Because I have a natural inclination much more for the sciences than for languages, I did not start learning Spanish until last year (when I was forty-seven years old), but now that I have started, I no longer have the same inclination to do my domestic chores.

That's how Italian trip advisors present it to Spanish visitors. F.i. PISA "CIUDAD DE LA TORRE PENDIENTE". And ' Con su torre pendiente, es una meta turística obligatoria en la Toscana'.. Maybe a literal translation of the Italian 'Torre pendente'? - Castor77, Aug 24, 2011
