Where to get cheap international plane tickets

Where to get cheap international plane tickets

Does anybody have any advice on where I can get reasonable tickets to anywhere in South America (except Brazil), or central America (except Mexico)?

I'm pretty good with finding cheap domestic tickets but this seems a bit different?

I'm looking for websites I guess.

Thanks much,

They sell tickets for Delta, AeroMexico, etc. It is a funny name, though! :) - 0066c384, Aug 24, 2011

I just asked Expedia for the cheapest flight Cochabamba (Bolivia) to London (England) on Expedia and got this

£4615 !!! Pounds Stirling.= approx $ $7000 !!!

I have in my desk a ticket for - $1666 - for the same journey same days of the week, same duration and same route but different dates

Don't trust Expedia !!!

The cheapest/ fastest flight Bolivia to England I booked via Expedia on TAM Merosur but I needed to be very explicit about which flight I wanted.

Expedia did not give that info but the following site did after much fiddling about with dates.

Fluege.de

It is in German but you can muddle through even if you don't know German.

Find the cheapest here and then book it on Expedia.

The cheapest flight prices varied enormously between Expedia and Fluege.de

PS In my opinion there is an international conspiracy preventing really cheap flights to South America.

I think you are right about the conspiracy. Flights are freakin' expensive to there. - steric, Aug 24, 2011

Try kayak.com and spirit air. But the best way to get cheap flights is to travel with the same carrier a lot and sign up for their award program. Getting a free flight will take a while though!

If you are close enough to Mexico...it's cheaper to fly out of Mexico then the States to South America...or look for cheap flights to mexican airports and then seperate flights from there (if you dont mind adventure and layovers in a spanish speaking country) Otherwise I would just suggest the usuals.....expedia, orbitz etc.

Also look for flight out of Miami, FL. Can get some cheap flight to Central America that way on various mega sites and just plan separately to get to Miami.

I don't know the names of the sites, but there are often cheap tickets available right ahead of time on a lot of transportaion that needs to fill empty seats, from cruise ships to airplanes. Last year I met someone who bought a plane ticket from Quito to Madrid for around $100.
