My Spanish teacher last year was...

Hi guys,

When saying that "My Spanish teacher last year was [name]," would you use the imperfect or preterit form?

I am thinking imperfect, but I am not certain.

This is what I came up with:

Mi profesora de español el año pasado era la Señora Mancheño.

Could you please tell me if this is the correct way.

Thank you.

That works just fine! She was your teacher for an amount of time, as opposed to one event, so imperfect is a good choice.

I would say era as well as she was your teacher for a long time; but then sometimes there is an argument that as the event is done and over it could be fue, but it seems to me that era wins out more often the fue, so I would go with fue.

( really I have no idea - what for a propper answer ! )
