R O T C was fun last year

Question

Hi everybody,

I am doing an assignment for my Spanish class, and I am trying to say that "my favorite class last year was R O T C because it was really fun."

This is what I have come up with:

Mi clase favorita el año pasado era R O T C porque me divertía mucho.

I'm worried that this might not be correct (tense and verb choice). Could somebody please let me know if this sounds ok.

Hi, glad to hear that you enjoyed ROTC!

Why don't you use the preterite of 'ser' for 'was'; you need the preterite there because you have a definite time limit in that you have said 'el año pasado'.

'It was very fun' - use the preterite of 'ser' (in the third person because it goes with 'clase'), and use the feminine form of 'fun' to go with the feminine word 'clase'.
