what does "pineiro" mean in Spanish?

"Pineiro" is the last name of a friend of mine. I would like to have the most accurate translation of this word. I know it has something to do with "pine", but I am at a loss for an accurate translation.

Pineiro or Piñeiro come from the Galician word for pine tree (piñeiro). It is not Castillian Spanish.
