The possesive object with tu does not change the possesive pronoun´s gender, but it does with tuyo, ie: La casa es tuya / El coche es tuyo / Es tu casa / Es tu coche.

The gender in case has nothing to do with the person in possesion.

Thumbs up! Just adding here that "tu" is a possesive adjective while "tuyo" is a possesive noun. (unless I'm confused) - rabbitwho, Aug 22, 2011
Yes, "tu" is a possessive adjective but "tuyo" is a possessive pronoun (there's no such thing as a possessive noun. - samdie, Aug 22, 2011
