Sensible

sensitive; significant, noticeable, considerable, clear, marked

DO NOT use the translator!! ¡No usar el traductor!

**Work must be done by yourself. This thread is about YOUR ability not the ability of the translator. wink**

Post your sentences in Spanish and English, then vote for the ones you like. The best answer will be chosen tomorrow on the basis of the greatest number of votes and language correctness.

These threads are kindly moderated by **Gintar77**. Please correct your posts according to Gintar’s indications and suggestions smile.

Posts which will not be corrected or accepted:
• Captions with 3 words or less
• Paragraphs with more than 4 lines
• Posts which cannot be understood it is read three or four times
• Posts which consist mainly of lyrics or idioms which do not translate.
• Captions copied directly from books or other sources.
• Multiple posts from one person, or those who don't write the sentences in both English and Spanish.
• Remember to use the Word of the Day in a typical Spanish sentence. This is great practice for you and for everyone that reads the thread to see how the Word of the Day could be used in a sentence.

Remember to correct your posts as suggested or they can NOT be "accepted".
Do not use subject pronouns in Spanish. (You'll be sent to the dunce corner!)
Please refrain from overloading with graphic content (ie; bold smileys, etc). It makes it harder for the correctors to be able to read your posts…. )

My Example:

Tengo suerte no ser sensible a las críticas de mi español, porque parece que mis frases siempre las corrigen las personas que realmente hablan español.

I am lucky that I am not sensitive about my bad Spanish, because it seems that my sentences are always corrected by people that actually speak Spanish.

Soy una persona tan sensible que cuando cocino no puedo ni cortar una cebolla sin llorar.

I'm such a sensitive person that when I cook I can't even cut an onion without crying.

This is a very sensitive matter within our family, so please don’t tell anyone? Our cat is completely crazy, sometimes he even thinks he is a kangaroo . . . . . .

Esto es un asunto muy sensible en nuestra familia, así que, por favor, ¿no se lo cuente a nadie? Nuestro gato está completamente loco, hasta que a veces piensa que es un canguro . . . . .

Es extraño que su gato actúe así...jeje! - SonrisaDelSol, Aug 21, 2011

Instead of "pues", "así que" would be better. Also, "loco" normally goes with "estar". - lazarus1907, Aug 21, 2011
Muchas gracias por corregirme, Lazarus . . . . :) - Ingeteacher, Aug 21, 2011

Esto = This, Eso = That. I agree with Q, I think "no *se* lo cuente a nadie" is correct. - gintar77, Aug 21, 2011

You know you're too sensitive when you get into a fight with someone when they call you sensitive.

Sabes que eres demasiado sensible cuando te peleas con alguien cuando te llama sensible.

¡ Estoy siempre sensible a la actividad alrededor de mí particularmente en estos tiempos violentos!

I am always sensitive to the activity around me, particularly in these violent times.

The truth of the matter is, a week ago out at a favorite restaurant with friends, we were seated in a large busy patio. I did not like the look of two men at a nearby table, I asked the waiter to leave the empty wine bottle on the table, ( as a weapon for me if I needed it.

Prior to joining SpanishDict, the only Spanish word that I knew was 'Hola', but with the teaching of our brilliant teacher, Paralee, and the help of the amazing members here, I made a noticeable improvement and now I can manage to read and write in Spanish.

very good SP I hadn't realized that sensible can be used like evidente o perceptible, excelente :) (maybe enseñanza for teaching in this case - lograr is also a good verb for 'manage to' :) but best wait for some proper help je je) - Kiwi-Girl, Aug 21, 2011

Apuesto a que las empresas que hacen los pañuelos de papel prosperan a causa de todos estos chicos sensibles de la nueva era.

I bet the tissue/Kleenex companies do well out of all these sensitive, new age guys.
