Can someone help me with these Spanish phrases

Question

What does: "para comer", "de comer" mean and how are they different from each other. How do you say a verb but in general like in english how we say something like: When you speak The you is generally speaking. When should I use the gerund apart from the present to be equivalent to the english "ing"? What tense/condition should I use to express "commands" and negative "commands? What tense/condition should I use to express negative actions in the future: eg. you will not go ? When to use 'the future tense' apart from the "going to do something: I will eat and I am going to eat. In English how we have "speaking" that can be used as a verb or noun eg.; I am speaking; Speaking is healthy. I appreciate all the help, thank you so very very much!!

You use the imperative generally for commands here the model conjugations for regular verbs

hablar postive negative

habla tu no hables

hable ud. no habla

hablemos nostros no hablemos.*

hablad vosotros ** no hableís.

hablen uds no hablan

Comer postive negative come tu. no comas

coma ud. no coma

comamos nosotros no comamos*

comed vosotros no comais

coman uds. no coman.

vivir postive negative

vive tu no vivas

viva ud. no viva

vivamos nosotros no vivamos

vivid vosotros no viváis

vivan ud no vivan. *An alternative imperative for nosotros is vamos a+ infintive vamos a hablar for example

As for your other question it depends on the participle is functioning. If it as adjective the equivalents in Spanish gente end in iente, ante or dor. If it is a noun you generally would the infitive unless a separate noun exists T

There are many irregulars to look out for, so if you are ever in doubt use the conjugation chart. Vosotros is always regular. For the postive you you just drop the r of infintive and add the d. - BellaMargarita, Aug 20, 2011
