"Suegra" VS "mamá política".

Question

"Los suegros" es el tema que es muy importante por todas las chicas y por sus novios también. Hello everybody. Can you tell me the difference of this two words. And when I should use each one. Thanks in advance

Hi, Princess.

I have spoken to mostly Mexicans, Guatemalans, Spainards, Colombians, and Puerto Ricans and I have never hear the expression "mamá política" in everyday conversation.

"Suegra" is the common term, in my experience.

"Político" is only used in cases where there is no specific word for the person, ie: Aunts and uncles in-law (tios políticos), cousins in-law (primos políticos), a spouse´s family (familia política), etc.

normalmente se dice "SUEGRA" ya que es lo mas comun y lo mas dicho .

Pero "Madre Politica" quiere decitr lo mismo que suegra pero,dicho más formalmente.
